The Greater Boston Chapter of the Green Rainbow Party (GRP) has endorsed Seamus Whelan, Socialist Alternative’s candidate for Boston City Council At-Large seat.
The Vote Whelan campaign plans to work together with the Green Rainbow Party to offer an alternative to Boston voters to the politics as usual of the corporate-supported establishment candidates.
Whelan pledges if elected to vote against any budget that proposes any layoffs, service cuts, fee increases or other attacks on working people and their families. He also agrees to take only the wage of an average Boston worker and donate the rest of the City Councillor’s bloated salary to fund and support movements of the 99%. Seamus will not accept any corporate funding but will finance his campaign with small donations.
Seamus works as a Registered Nurse in the Cambridge Hospital and is an activist in his union Mass Nurses Association (MNA) and National Nurses United. He plans to advocate for the MNA’s safe staffing ratios campaign and also for single payer health care, a Financial Transaction Tax (Robin Hood Tax) on Wall Street speculators and for a living wage in Boston.
