Fight War, Poverty, and Racism — Donations Needed for 9th CWI World Congress

Published on

War. Global Warming. Layoffs. Poverty.

These problems cannot be solved within the confines of national borders. They require an international solution.

That’s one reason why Socialist Alternative is so serious about organizing together with activists from around the world through the Committee for a Workers’ International (CWI). We believe that only a coordinated, global resistance can seriously challenge multinational corporations and imperialism. The CWI brings together organizations in 35 countries, on every continent, unifying our diverse local struggles behind a common vision of socialist change.

In January, the CWI will be holding its ninth World Congress, where elected delegates from all the national sections of the CWI will meet to discuss world developments, exchange experiences and ideas, and democratically determine the direction of our movement.

The World Congress will be an invaluable exchange of ideas and experiences between activists from Pakistan to Ireland, Brazil to Hong Kong, Germany to Nigeria. This event will give living meaning to the idea of internationalism, as the discussions are translated into more than 10 languages.

We need to raise $6000, most of which will pay for the travel costs of delegates from poor countries who otherwise could not participate without assistance from supporters in wealthier countries like the U.S. These funds will also help pay for Socialist Alternative members to attend the Congress.

In addition, we need resources for the national speaking tour of an international speaker on the case for socialism at the start of the school year, to help repopularize the ideas of socialism among young people.

So please, whether you can contribute $10, $50, $500, or $1000, help us build a real alternative to the horrors of war, poverty, and environmental destruction that are caused by global capitalism.

Checks payable to Socialist Alternative can be sent to PO Box 45343, Seattle WA 98145
