Why I Became a Socialist

I grew tired of the capitalist system long ago but could not find a way to express my anger and frustration. Then I became homeless even though I was employed, and it all became clear to me – I needed to find a way to show and speak about how I felt. Right before the RNC here in New York in August 2004, I met Socialist Alternative via their public meeting and was able to feel like I had a voice, that there are people like me who believe that everyone on a global scale deserves the right to housing, education, healthcare, childcare, and a living wage. I will be a part of the struggle for humane conditions for all the rest of my life. This is why I became a socialist.
